We had a very interesting and enjoyable day in November , along with WI members from Much Hadham, Sawbridgeworth and Manuden, visiting two Hindu temples: the large one in Neasden and a smaller one in Alperton, which was begun twenty years ago and is nearing completion. This temple, most of us thought more interesting as it covered, in detail, all the different aspects and deities of the Hindu religion so that Hindus can go there to pray to whichever god they have allegiance to. There must have at least 30 gods/goddesses on show in their respective alcoves. Some were behind closed curtains having their ceremonial cloths changed and offerings of food and drink placed in front of them by the priest. This was all explained in great detail by the Manager of the temple who was very keen for us to learn as much as we could.
